Responsively:

Christ is risen!
He is risen indeed!

Hymn of Praise                     Christ the Lord is Risen Today

Confession of Sin

Remember, O Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Remember not the sins of our youth and our rebellious ways. According to your love remember us, for you are good, O Lord. For the sake of your name, O Lord, forgive our iniquity, though it is great. Turn to us and be gracious to us, for we are lonely and afflicted. The troubles of our hearts have multiplied; free us from our anguish. Look upon our affliction and our distress and take away all our sins.

Assurance of Pardon                                                            Romans 6:5-7

For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. For one who has died has been set free from sin.

Hymn of Forgiveness            The Power of the Cross

Affirmation of Faith                                                  Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible;

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Ghost of the Virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and he shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord, and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified; who spoke by the Prophets.

And I believe one holy Catholic and Apostolic Church; I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and I look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

Amen

Prayer

  • for the Church to love well during this time

  • for protection for those in essential work (healthcare, grocery, people in contact with others more than the rest of us)

  • for God’s continuing comfort and peace for Christine

  • for protection for those at GCC who are most vulnerable to COVID-19

  • for each other as we have varying responses to and abilities to cope with this social distancing

  • that the Church (and GCC) would grow even during this time and that we’d be prepared to meet needs that are sure to follow after all this passes

  • that the gospel of Christ will continue to grow and reach new people, and I’ve personally been thinking of those who can “safely” watch church services from home and hear the gospel “secretly” (away from judgment of friends and family), i.e. people who are curious and wondering what the Church says during times like this.
